A good rule of thumb for exercising is to do a mixture of cardio and weight training. When you do cardio i would recommend working your way to doing between 45 - 60 minutes. Increasing the intensity of the excercise to suit yourself.
Also moderate intensity will burn off just as much as strenuous excercises. So don't push yourself too hard to start with.
